In response to alert of armed suspect in building:

1. If you are in a classroom or office, STAY THERE; if in a hallway and you are not close to an exit, get in a room. Do not hide in restrooms.
2. Secure the room: lock or barricade the door, cover any windows. Get out of sight from the door; stay low and quiet.
3. Call 911 as soon as it is safe to do so.
4. Use emergency information sources to get further information and instructions.
5. Follow directions of emergency personnel when they arrive on the scene.

If trapped with armed suspect:

1. Do not do anything to provoke the armed suspect. If no shooting is occurring, do what the armed suspect says and do not move suddenly.
2. If shooting is occurring, you need to make a choice: stay still, run for an exit while zigzagging, or attack the shooter. This is very dangerous. Any option chosen may result in a negative consequence.

1. University personnel receiving telephoned bomb threats should attempt to get the exact location where the bomb has been planted, or is going to be planted.
2. Attempt to get as much information as possible about the caller, for example, male or female, accent, etc. (use Bomb Threat checklist).
3. Listen for any background noise that may indicate the location of the caller.
4. Complete the checklist below as soon as possible after receiving a threatening call and report it immediately to 911.
5. Bomb threats received through the mail or by other means are also to be reported immediately to 911.

1. "Drop, Cover, Hold" under a table or desk or against an inside wall—not in a doorway—until the shaking stops.
2. After shaking stops, check yourself and others for injuries and move toward the nearest exit.
3. Evacuate the building; do not use elevators.
4. Go to your evacuation assembly point for more information and critical updates.
5. Do not leave the area/campus without reporting your status to your instructor or an evacuation warden.

4. Call 911.

1. Move away from the site of the hazard to a safe location.
2. Call 911; notify emergency personnel if you have been exposed or have information about the hazard.
3. Alert others to stay clear of the area.

1. Remain calm; provide assistance to others if necessary.
2. Move cautiously to a lighted area. Exits may be indicated by lighted signs if the emergency power is operating.
3. Turn off and unplug computers and other voltage sensitive equipment.
4. For information about a prolonged outage, tune to radio KOMO 1000 AM, and/or
   call UW 206-897-INFO (4636).

1. Do not touch or disturb object.
2. Call 911.
3. Alert others to stay clear of area.
4. Be prepared to evacuate.

1. Do not physically confront the person; do not let suspicious persons into a locked building/office.
2. Do not block the person's access to an exit.
3. Observe and note appearance and their direction of travel.
